Ascendant: ScorpioPallas
![]() |
Hercules battling the river god Achelous. |
On the ascendant we can see Scorpio and it is in conjunction with Pallas. A scorpio is intense, with a will to live - a desire to fight and to survive. As the third decan of Scorpio, it is identified within the Mazzaroth by Frances Rolleston as the figure Hercules. And looking through the list of names provided within the Mazzeroth, it becomes obvious that the "wounding" as well as "the strong" are common themes for this particular placement. Within mythology, Hercules as a child (we're considering it to be the first house, the house of emergence) was beset by the forces of a jealous Hera or Juno, who sought revenge on all of Zeus' bastards. She would send snakes to kill the infant, however, Hercules survived by killing these snakes with his bare hands. (Something to be said about a baby's grip? But then times 10? ;) ).
Labour is another important factor, most notably because the Sixth House plays such a prominent role within this very reading itself - and to a certain degree, atonement does as well. The very idea behind Hod and Netzach (7 of Swords) is to rectify evil and witness the emergence of Free Will by doing what is Good and turning away from evil.
Within the story, Hera instigated a plot to see to it that Hercules would kill his own family. As a result, Hercules sought to atone for his wrongdoing and was tasked with the twelve labours. And so, this area also speaks of rectification and serious atonement. This gives rise to transformation and deep inner growth as one undergoes trials and tribulations to do with one's character, but also relating to hidden enemies that (as is the case usually with the twelfth house) are hidden behind first and second house matters.
And so, there's a strong incentive for the Scorpio Ascendant to will themselves forwards and to not let anything get them down. Their intensity can be as hot as it can be cold. With Hercules as a placement, which is rather flattering to be fair, it gives way to a strong moral character - built from the ground up, facing many adversaries; a mental fortress that is considered formidable and difficult to penetrate.
However, for the moment, we're still in the process of 'becoming' and for some it is so difficult, they'll have to do combat between the higher and lower nature of themselves. That feelings of pain and of betrayal - of wounding - are calling us to maintain internal strength to continue on. When we have passed this point, the reading suggests the gain of vision through the element of the Hermit, who is no longer bound by the small mind.
With Pallas there, it appears that much of it is a matter of abstraction itself - that life and vision of life - is an abstraction and that through this heightened understanding, coupled with a strong (emotional) drive - the mind is capable of incredible feats. This scorpionic force is channelled into a keen mind for strategy and technical insight; a tacticality that will facilitate a new spectacular birth.
What is particularly noteworthy is the presence of an Ascendant trine Saturn, which is situated in the 5th house in Pisces. It could be a structured, personal approach to something inherently creative - by that I also mean - that is life-giving, life-affirming. Almost reminds me of the essence of Neshamah and Binah, of the continuous source of Creation. Something that generates "off-spring" - and that also means creative ideas and even - if aspected in such a way - spiritual beliefs.

Second House: Sagittarius
Part of Fortune
The Second House rules bios whereas the First House rules zoë; that which facilitates life and usually this translates into possession. These can be possessions that are of material nature, they can also be possessions of a spiritual or emotional nature. With Part of Fortune here, we're banking on our innate talents - that which nobody can take away from us anymore. We can be our own biggest enemy at times and the sooner we realise this - the sooner we'll be able to flourish and reap our rewards.
Sagittarius reveals a wide range of talents, most notably in the domain of intellectualism and spiritualism. On its opposite end we find its natural ruler - Jupiter - in the eight house. It is almost as if it is beckoning us to understand that the talent is not one of loss, but one of inheritance. A spiritual inheritance, an ancestral inheritance - one that elevates and finetunes the mind towards mediumship.
The duality of Mars Gemini might cause issues - as the world is divided - so is the spiritual domain.
Because the Part of Fortune is placed here in this house, it can be used as a substitute for the First House.
Third House: Capricorn
Ceres
Capricorn takes pragmatic steps towards learning and understanding the world around it, it is seated in the original house of the Goddess and in it, we find Ceres. We nourish ourselves with new insightful information; knowledge is key to refresh our eyes and look at the world in a different way. A good book and a notebook at hand to write down our thoughts is going to bring in some interesting nuggets of gold if we choose to flesh these out. It might take a long time - but it will pay off in later years of our lives.
Fourth House: Aquarius
Pluto
The subterranean house, a house of family secrets and our private time. We are obscured from the public eye and we can be ourselves. Pluto shows itself in Aquarius and perhaps invites us to look more closely at the skies - that signs of the divine are just for us and not for everyone else. This secret is transformative and although it may feel as though we might want to share - as Vesta shows herself in the 10th - we must learn to discern what is send to us in confidence from the Divine and what is supposed to be for the ears of others.
The transformation that takes place in private will show itself in a type of zeal visible to the eye of others, the confidence of the Self and the passion which one has for their cause and their own life. In the end, with Pluto trining Uranus - one will make great transformative changes in the lives of others.
Fifth House: Pisces
Saturn, Neptune
Neptune and Saturn in the realm of Pisces - the Fifth House encourages us to play and to experience pleasure. It is said within the teaching of the Kabbalah that the light of God is a pleasure, however, Saturn reveals that there may be a sense of feeling too burdened to experience some joy. The problem lies with the 8th House as it squares both Jupiter and Mars there - there's a lot of bad happening in the world and to be sensitive to it is a real burden. Sometimes a gift or a talent becomes the prison, becomes the burden.
It is best to find ways to address feelings of joylessness by taking a step away from these responsibilities every now and then to find joy and through joy, reconnect with the Divine.
6th House: Aries
North Node, Chiron
The house that is prominently featured within the video. We have the north node here, and also, chiron. It is a prime requisite to heal first and then to heal others. There's a real responsibility - a role - or a task that one must do. This is most likely not a job, but it is probably a spiritual job. This is also what will cause the re-emergence of the Self - the redefining of the Self. It will be a time where one grows old and as this happens, the world and community becomes a more important place. The insidious nature of the Twelth House is laid bare right here - and we are given the means to work through it. Much of these problems may relate to the Dark Feminine - or Lilith aspects. The powers that we fear and the over sexualisation of our bodies.
Chiron suggests a rekindling with the feminine, both in frame and in concept - so that we become sovereign and as free women (or men), begin our steep incline towards success. Proliferation of the self is what brings healing - the work that one self does (for others) will bring healing. A healthy understanding about self-sacrifice and self-preserving will bring understanding and will bring healing.
Stability, mundanity and routine are the friends of any who seek to heal.
7th House: Taurus
Uranus
The House of Other, occupied by Uranus in Taurus. Big fluctuations in friendships and partnerships. People come and go - you come and go - you change - they change. It is all part of how it must be. It is best to embrace the absurdity and find internal stability to widstand any unpredictable (unpleasant) events.
8th House: Gemini
Mars, Jupiter
There's an enlargement of the idea of loss - of strong dualism and fickleness. Jupiter is a gift and the benevolent influence will stem the change of tides and pull it into a more favourable event. There's, seemingly, a strange unexplainable force pulling the strings from the other side and you are given the means to see it. This is a privelege in a world filled with injustices and cruelty.
9th House: Cancer/Scarabaeus
-
The House of God and higher learning. This house is surprisingly devoid of any planets, but is occupied by Cancer. Much of what is dealing with the Ninth House appears to be a deepening of understanding of the things that we already know and are in the process of mastering it. The focus may be scattered and we're tasked to be attentive and pro-active in our pursuit to know more. Cancer rules the memory as the sign has strong emotional undercurrents (which aid the strength of memory) - this may be the important factor that drives this new beginning forwards.
10th House: Leo
Sun, Vesta
Leo is here in the 10th House with Vesta and the Sun - the people see a golden glow - a fire behind your eyes and a crown on your head. You are the master. Your passion makes people like you and you become more popular by the hour. Your Golden Dawn is truly here.
11th House: Virgo
Venus, Mercury, Moon, MC, Juno
The House of Community, of Friendships and of Good Fortune. Because of your golden glow you are listened to carefully, your mental capacity, your ideas - your creativity and expression - all these things are very appealing to others and enrich their lives in some way. It is not time to hold back any longer - it is time to embrace the change and see where this will take you.
12th House: Libra
Lilith, South Node, Part of Spirit
The House that seems to bleed into the Sixth. The house that reveals issues and brings them towards the surface. Some are hidden powers - but sometimes, these hidden powers are also our captors. It is time to break free and to make use of the full range that resides within us. We cannot be bound or no longer be scared. It is time to bring it out and to work it through - working the secrets, the impressions, the subconscious, the shadows - all - through dedicated, enflamed will. The will was enflamed for a reason - do you understand why?
